Jakeโ€™s little brother, Al, was in town, but only until Saturday so instead of Sunday dinner this week, we did Friday dinner! The menu was inspired by $1 oysters from Whole Foods on Fridays!

Cioppino

Peach made the Cioppino - no recipe, just all the seafood (scallops, shrimp, halibut, clams, and Iโ€™m sure something else Iโ€™m forgetting). It was acidic, tomato forward and very scrumptious.

Oysters

Al bought 4 dozen all different varieties. I wrote none of them down. One batch was questionable so I think we only ended up shucking (and eating) 3 dozen. We served them with a classic mignonette: brunoise shallots + red wine vinegar + salt & pepper

Lemon Buttermilk Sherbert

This was so good. It was a hot night and then we ate hot soup ๐Ÿ™ƒ and the combination of cold + citrus was the perfect end to this meal ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป I made it from this NYTimes recipe which calls it a โ€œsorbetโ€ but that feels wrong since there was dairy in it.

Spiced Pecans

Since dinner was on a Friday, I didnโ€™t have enough time for a full blown take away treat, so I picked an easy treat - and Al and I had spoken earlier in the week about his love for pecans. These are more spicy than sweet, but definitely a fun host gift / homemade treat to put out!
