Itโ€™s my third favorite holiday of year! After Christmas and Thanksgiving, I LOVE me some July 4th. In fairness, I just love a theme and July 4th really delivers. We grilled burgers, dogs and corn and served it alongside a German potato salad and lots of chips and pretzels. I tried my hand at a triple berry truffle, but I did not get enough structure in the cream, so it melted almost immediately after i took it out of the pan, but it was still delicious.

Ground beef, salt and American cheese. This is a great example of less is more.

German Potato Salad

I am partial to a mustard potato salad. I prefer mustard over mayonnaise. I made this NYTimes recipe which features Dijon mustard, dill, scallions and red wine vinegar. It was absolutely scrumptious.

Triple Berry Trifle

I made this recipe which identifies as an โ€œice box cakeโ€ but as mine totally lost its shape, I feel like โ€œtrifleโ€ is a more apt name. The flavors were amazing - the store was out of Biscoff cookies so I went with graham crackers. No regrets.
