The weather has been so sodden and gloomy that chili really felt like the only option. And once you’re serving chili, you really must also serve cornbread, and so we did. We also still had lots of left over charcuterie supplies left over from Christmas so we made another board for a welcome snack.

Chili

This was a Mark special - he made a simple, one pot version. He really reduced the sauce perfectly here so it was an ideal consistency and texture.

Cornbread

I used this King Arthur recipe. I made them in muffin format but I think this yielded a too try experience so I will go back to the pie dish next time.

Crème Brûlée

This was so easy to make - and so delicious. I used this simple NYTimes recipe and served it with some fresh berries. I broiled these as I don’t have a torch, but now I want one so I can achieve a more even and perfect burn on these 🔥
