This week’s theme was Mediterranean 💙 Hummus, chicken souvlaki, lemon bars, and rice pudding. We also updated the styles on the site including a new hand drawn logo! New year, new look 🪩

Chicken Souvlaki

We made this Brian Lagerstrom recipe. I wish I didn’t forget to give the chicken the full 24 hour marinade, and I think I do prefer this on the grill, but it was still so very tasty!

Lemon Bars

America’s Test Kitchen crowned these ‘the best lemon bars,’ and I’m not here to pick a fight. The curd is bracingly tart, thick enough to slice clean but sharp enough to make your jaw tense with a buttery shortbread that crumbles beneath.

Rice Pudding

When researching Greek desserts, I stumbled on rizogalo - Greek rice pudding - and knew I wanted it. Went with Melissa Clark’s NYT Cooking recipe because if Melissa says it’s good, it’s good. The risotto rice gives each spoonful this lovely, al dente chew - creamy but with structure. We were out of raisins, which I’m still mourning. Next time 🫡
